Steel standards: what each one covers
A steel standard is a numbered document that fixes composition, properties, testing and delivery for a set of grades. 26 are documented here with their scope, the grades on this site that belong to them, their edition history and the standards they replaced. The full texts are copyrighted — each page links to the issuing body.
How steel standards are organised
Three kinds of document meet on any drawing: product standards (EN 10025-2, ASTM A516) that define grades for a product form; designation standards (EN 10027, SAE J1086/UNS, ASTM E527) that fix how grades are named and numbered; and general-requirement or test standards (EN 10021, ASTM A6/A20/A29, EN ISO 6892) that say how to sample, test and certify. The pages below cover the product standards that name the grades in this database.

Withdrawn standards still in use
DIN 17100, DIN 17200, DIN 17155, DIN 1623, BS 4360, BS 970 and EN 10025:1990 were withdrawn in the 1990s, but their grade names (St37, Ck45, HII, St12, 43A, EN8, Fe510) are still specified daily. The DIN 17100 page maps each St grade to its EN successor; every grade page lists its superseded names.
