ASTM A333/A333M — Seamless and welded steel pipe for low-temperature service and other applications with required notch toughness
Last updated
Scope
Specification for seamless and welded steel pipe where notch toughness at low temperature must be demonstrated. Nine grades spanning plain carbon steel (Grade 1, Grade 6), nickel steels (Grade 3 at 3.5 % Ni, Grade 7 at 2.5 % Ni, Grade 9 at 2 % Ni + Cu, Grade 8 at 9 % Ni) and alloy grades 4, 10 and 11. Every grade carries a mandatory Charpy V-notch requirement at a stated test temperature, from -45 C for Grade 6 to -195 C for Grade 8. Covers composition, tensile properties, impact testing, hydrostatic and non-destructive testing. This is the specification that A53 and A106 do not cover: neither of those requires any impact test.
