Steel Standart

1.2363 equivalent grades: ASTM, EN, JIS, GB, DIN

1.2363 is cold-work tool steel, 5 % Cr air-hardening specified in EN ISO 4957. Substitutes are collected here from 5 standard systems; the grading column says whether a certificate covers the swap or an engineer has to. The full 1.2363 data sheet carries the composition and mechanical tables.

Where a drawing says 1.2363, A2, Cr5Mo1V, SKD12 satisfies it as written, with no concession needed. The near matches are 1.2344; what differs is the tested condition, not the alloy. 1.2379, 1.2842, 1.2767 and 2 more serve the same purpose without being the same steel, so a substitution there needs the design re-checked rather than the certificate. Across systems that is 1 in AISI / SAE, 1 in GB/T (China), 1 in JIS (Japan), 5 in EN (European), 1 in GOST (Russia/CIS).

1.2379EN (European)FunctionalX153CrMoV12 (D2): 12 % Cr and 1.5 % C give far higher abrasive wear resistance and roughly half the toughness. The pair is chosen against each other for every blanking die — see the comparison below.
1.2842EN (European)Functional90MnCrV8 (O2): oil-hardening, cheaper, similar toughness but much lower wear resistance and more distortion. Used for short runs and simple tools.
1.2767EN (European)Functional45NiCrMo16: the nickel cold-work steel for heavy blanking and cold forging where impact dominates — tougher still, at 54–58 HRC.

Kh6VFGOST (Russia/CIS)FunctionalGOST 5950 has no direct 5 % Cr air-hardening grade; Kh6VF (C 1.05–1.15, Cr 5.5–6.5, W 1.1–1.5, V 0.5–0.8) fills the same slot with tungsten instead of molybdenum.
